A red-haired woman named Cassandra was standing in the middle of the town, with her make-up on her face. She was also wearing an outfit that made her look pretty stylish, yet somewhat attractive. She was wearing a red hot pink dress with flowers on it, including high heels with orange and red undertones. It was one of those days where she wanted to play "damsel in distress" and then, steal the the purse or a wallet. She was looking to the left and to the right to find a victim on whom to steal from.
She saw a young lady who did have a purse with red rubies on it, and thought that a poor woman or someone from middle class would have an accessory like that. She smirked as she "accidentally" fell to the ground. "Ow. Someone please help me up! I think my leg is broken..." Cassandra faked cried as she was trying to get the young lady's attention. The young lady with the purse ran up to her level. "Oh, my. Are you alright?" Keeping her eye on the purse, Cassandra knew that the plan was working. All she had to do was to continue to play the act and then, the purse would be hers for the take. She continued to "fake cry" and nodded. "My leg, it hurts!" Cassandra "cried" out, while looking at the purse. "Let me see." The woman said, as she was gazing at the leg for any bruises. "While she's distracted, I'll take the purse without her noticing." She thought with a smirk. "Keep looking at the leg, lady! Are there any bruises or do you feel any broken bones in my beautiful leg?" Cassandra pretended to ask, while looking at it. Although her staring at the leg was working, she had to make the body part as though it was full of blood and bruises, so, she quickly went through her bag and puts on some red eyeshadow on her ankle and some brown cover up on her knee with red lipstick to make it look like a giant blood bruise. "Bingo." She thought to herself as she looked up at the lady with a look of sadness that was full of pretend.
The lady saw that Cassandra was "badly hurt" and knew that she needed more than just a simple doctor visit. "Stay there, and let me get a doctor for you. Do not move." She said, and ran, not realizing that she dropped her purse. Cassandra, seeing that the lady was gone, saw the purse being on the ground. "Now's my chance." She thought with a smirk and grabbed the purse.
Now that she got the item, she ran to the nearest donation area on where all sorts of items could be donated, such as clothes, accessories, and even household items. She did find a store that she thought that the place could accept the purse. "Excuse me? I'm here to donate this purse. I found it in the street and I thought that someone could use it." She offered, handing the cashier lady the purse. The lady looked at the item, and although it did look expensive, it could be worth selling. "My, someone must have dropped it. Who would drop something this expensive on ground, someone might have took and run with the money." As Cassandra heard that, she felt her face drop with sweat, not willing to tell her that she's a grifter who steals items from the rich and donates them to those who really need the items. "Yeah, you're absolutely right. People do need to be careful with their belongings." She replied, as she was about to step out of the store. "Have a nice day!" She called out and walked out. "You too, and thank you for the donation!" The lady called out, while putting the item on the shelf to sell.
As she was on her way back to her apartment, there was a long haired blonde haired young woman, going toward her way. "Excuse me? I'm trying to get to my house. I'm not a criminal." She greeted in a reluctant way. The blonde haired woman looked at her with an eyebrow being raised with a giggle. "I'm not a police officer. I just saw what you did from afar. Are you a grifter?" She asked, with a smirk. Cassandra looked at her with sweat once again, not knowing on how to answer, since she doesn't want to tell her that she's been a con artist all her life. "I, um.." "Hey, no need to be ashamed. What you did was pretty bad-ass. Bring a grifter is a cool job, right?" The blonde haired woman exclaimed as she clasped her hands together. Cassandra looked at her, thinking she was nuts, but with her being a con-artist herself, she nodded, agreeing with her. "Yeah, I guess it is. I've been doing it all my life to get money and to, I guess give to the poor." She responded, with a small grin. The blonde haired young lady grinned and patted her shoulder. "Tell me your name, pronto." "My name?" She asked. "Yes, because I am a teacher a school on where I could teach you about the different ways to put on an act, to steal something, and you could either keep the item or give it to charity. I'm Rapunzel, by the way." Rapunzel said, and reached out her hand to shake hers.
Cassandra, looking at the smiling young woman, reached out her hand as well. "Cassandra Maguire. But, you can call me Cassie for short." She responded, shaking her hand. As Rapunzel heard her name, she grinned. "Nice to meet you, Cassandra. So, you're a grifter. Tell me, how did you steal that lady's purse?" They both walked to the nearest bench so, they could talk. Cassandra looked up at her and sighed, ready to tell her. "Well, I had this dress on with make-up upon my face. I know that people were going to, you know, go with people who look like the rich crowd, so, I had to change my appearance to fit it in. I then saw this lady with this purse and from the looks of it, the item had red rubies and I knew that someone would want it. So, I pretended that my leg was broken. I put on makeup on my leg to make it look like it was bleeding. Then, the lady with the purse saw that I was "hurt" and then, she ran to go get a doctor. As soon as o saw her drop the purse, I grabbed it and ran to the donation shop and they took it to sell." Rapunzel heard this, and she felt a bit of laughter coming out of her mouth and patted her back. "That's genius, Cassandra. Very dramatic. You should be an actress one day." She commented with a wink. Cassandra looked up at her and gave out a small blush of embarrassment. "Gee, thanks!" She replied, and chuckled slightly. Rapunzel looked at her and gave her a pat on the back. "No problem at all. I'll let you be on your way home now. I'll let the administrator of the school know about meeting you. I'm sure you'll be a good candidate to our academy, Leverage. A school where you learn about all types of thieving. I think you'll like it." Rapunzel said, and gave her a pat on the back.
As Cassandra walked on her way home to her apartment, she thought of the conversation that happened between her and Rapunzel regarding her being a con artist turning into an actual school lesson. She sighed, thinking that having a school of thriving would get the administrator of the academy arrested for holding something like this, but she somewhat knew that giving to the poor would be nice, and she did have high expectations of the school experience turning positive. She got into her apartment and saw that her cat, Petrie was sitting by her bowl. "Might as well feed you after a long day." She said, giving the cat her favorite food, which was tuna. She sighed after a long day of being a con-artist and she quickly washed the makeup off her legs and went to bed.
The next morning, she woke up and saw a letter addressed to her. The red-haired young lady raised an eyebrow and opened the letter. As soon as she opened the envelope, she found an acceptance letter to the academy. "Oh, so, this is the school that Rapunzel was talking about. I might as well start packing." She said to herself as she started to pack her bags for the academy.
She honestly had no idea on how the administrator liked her. Perhaps Rapunzel told the administrator a lot of positive things about her? So, the only way to find out was to go to the academy and find out. The school could not be bad at the end of the day. "I hope that the education is worth learning. Don't want to get arrested." She thought to herself nervously and started to head off to the academy, not knowing on what the place had in store for her, hoping that it would be worth the time. She hoped that Rapunzel would teach her the ropes on how to act more dramatic and become a better con artist and use her skills in order to "steal" in a good way and hopefully, not turn her into a criminal. "Here we go." She thought to herself as she found the school and gulped wondering as to why it was underground. "The police better not know about this." She thought to herself as she gazed upon the building, wondering on what the academy had in story for the young grifter.
