Family: None but has some close friends who are like family (Sophie Aster, Mihoshi Kuramitsu and Ayeka Jurei) plus a pet named Ryo-Ohki, which is a cabbit

Personality: Aloof, brilliant and witty, Washu has used her intellect to get herself out of situations and she’s incredibly proud of that fact. Though she’s often off on her own coming up with plans, Washu shows concern for those close to her, often giving them advice or support and she is like an adoptive mother to the other girls who she was raised with. Even though nuns raised her, Washu is a very diligent scientist who’s very dedicated to her work.

How they got a letter from Once-ler or one of his members of his gang:

If there’s one thing that Washu can’t explain, is how she came to be found on the steps of the convent. The nuns took her in and raised her, Washu met her ‘sisters’ over the years they were either girls who were taken in or were sent by their parents to be taught by the nuns. The convent didn’t have much and was often under threat of being closed down, something that Washu didn’t want to see happen, so she rounded up her ‘sisters’ and they found ways to get high ranking members of the community to “donate” to the convent. One day, they came up against a tough case, someone was buying up property in the town so they could open a new super store, and it was closing a lot of small businesses in town. Washu felt like she couldn’t sit by and allow this to happen. She and her sisters were able to get the super store to close down but the nuns found them out. While Washu was waiting for her punishment, a letter from a mysterious man named the Once-ler arrived for her inviting her to a school for thieves. She found the whole thing rather interesting and decided that as soon as she got the chance that she’d sign up for the school.
