The infirmary was empty for once and quiet. Leorio didn’t mind taking care of the students but some of them were too noisy for their own good. The younger ones would constantly be asking if they could play with the machines and what certain items were. It was very annoying.
At the moment, the young man was asleep in a chair, a magazine over his eyes. Being a doctor was exhausting sometimes. This was practically the only chance he would be able to sleep until night.
“Mr Leorio!”
“GAH!” The sound of the boy’s voice caused the chair to fall over and the elder to end up on the floor. “What the hell?”
He glanced up at a blonde haired boy with a monkey tail. “What do you want kid?” he asked bitterly. “I am not giving any extra credit right now, so don’t ask.”
“It’s not that.” The boy, who Leorio was sure was named Sun, looked worried causing Leorio’s anger to dim. “Someone’s been hurt. My roommate.”
Leorio nodded “Bring him in then.”
Sun nodded and raced out, coming back with a barely conscious boy hanging off his shoulder. Leorio had yet to meet the boy yet, but had to know all the students by name. This was Kurt. Blood was staining his shirt, and he looked like he was in pain. A lot of pain.
Shit. Leorio’s eyes widened as he cleared the medical table and Sun laid him down. “What happened?” he asked.
Sun shook his head. “I don’t know I wasn’t on their team but when he came in he was limping and in a lot of pain.”
Leorio would have to have a talk with that leader then. His brown eyes glanced over at the boy, Kurt was shaking, and his eyes were wide with fear but unfocused. The watch on his wrist was cracked, and sparks were flying from it. Leorio glanced at Kurt to see that his appearance had changed, no longer the tall skinny boy was replaced with a blue furred and pointy eared creature.
The hell? “Kurt.” Leorio spoke gently. “I am going to have to take a look at the wound on your chest.”
Kurt gave no response, so that was something Leorio could take as a yes. Slowly moving the boy’s gloved hands away from the wound, the blood had stopped flowing around the shirt but even then, Leorio could see that if not sewed up the boy might not be able to make it.
“Kurt, I am going to have to sew you up. “ Leorio walked over to a small bag and pulled out a needle, thread and bandages.
The shaking started to get worse, and Kurt began to mutter words in another language. Leorio realized that the boy was speaking German. Kurt’s eyes were filled with more fear than ever.
Sun’s gaze went to Kurt. The blonde looked more concerned by this. “Do you know why he is in this state?” Leorio asked.
“He never told me what happened before he came here. I don’t know what happened.” Sun said sadly. “You gotta fix him though!”
No duh! Leorio didn't have the heart to be sarcastic to Sun, the worry on the other's face was enough. He nodded. “I’ll do my best.” He said quietly.
Inside though, Leorio’s anger was rising. This boy. Kurt, he was Jude’s age. What had caused this boy to be in such a state of fear. What kind of hell did he go through? Whoever did this, was going to go to hell
“I am not going to hurt you kid.” He spoke like Maes did when he was sick. “I am going to help you. Trust me.” Even though Kurt didn't respond, he could see that his eyes were filled with less fear than before.
I may not be a hero like you were Maes. But I am going to help these kids in anyway I can.
