Personality: Penny is a very curious and kind girl. Due to her programing, Penny is considered to be very protective of others. Her social skills are next to nothing and she is always curious about what humans do and certain terms. She holds loyalty very close and can be very concerned about others, especially if they are in danger or hurt. She knows next to nothing about how to blend in with others and social greets and interactions are tough. However, she is very kind and willing to lend a hand to those who need it. Deep down, she wishes she were human and not a machine.

How they got a letter from Once-ler:
Penny was an andriod built by a scientist. The man built her as a companion and protector for his young daughter Reina. Built as an AI for good, Penny was meant to act and think like a real human. Though Penny's main mission was to protect, she grew close to Reina and wanted to do anything to make the girl happy. Strong, smart and easily adaptable, Penny did her job well. Perhaps too well. Word of the scientist's creation reached the ears of his enemies. While away with his daughter, a virus was sent to the robot, making her malfunction, causing her programming to become corrupt and askew. She knew what her mission was but couldn't act properly. As a result, Penny had failed to protect Reina when she needed it most.
A drunk driver had hit her creator's car on the road, killing Reina in the process. Penny obviously was depressed, that she had failed in her duties. She was not fit to be anyone's protector like her creator intended. Depressed, her creator decided it was best to shut Penny down. However before doing so, he modified her functions and system to make sure that nothing like this happened again.
He did his best to erase Penny's memory of Reina as a precaution that Penny would not fall into despair like she did that day. Saying his goodbyes, he locked Penny in a safe and disappeared before his rivals found out that he survived. A few years later, Penny was discovered by the mafia who intended to activate her and use her as a weapon. This was stopped by Oncler and his gang, Winry decided to take the robot into her care. Penny's knowledge of robotics and machines was not surprising and being that she had no place to go, the AI decided to stay at the academy, hoping to find a new purpose.
