“This person’s system has to be the strongest one I’ve seen yet.”
Chiaki Nanami was at her computer, typing away as she hacked into the newest account she set her eyes on. A small bunny was asleep on the desk next to the computer. Chiaki had a calm look on her face as she continued her work. The target in question was an owner of some bank company. He cheated his workers out of the money they should have, wasting it on useless items for himself. Needless to say, Chiaki had a wake up call planned for him. The plan was to steal all of his money he currently have and post the truth under one of her many code-names to the news. The money would go to the workers while any extra money leave would be donated. She planned to send to try to help the workers find new jobs too. After all, they didn’t do anything wrong so no sense in making them suffer along with their boss.
“Come on, come on…” Chiaki mumbled to herself.
Her avatar, being an icon of a game she enjoyed like her hair clip, fired back against the protective system icons of the account. It took a small bit but she was soon successful. Chiaki smiled widely.
“Got it!” Chiaki cheered.
The cheer woke the bunny up. The bunny yawned and raised her head, looking confused. Chiaki noticed this.
“Oops, sorry Clover. I didn’t mean to wake you up.” Chiaki said sheepishly.
Clover smiled a bit. Chiaki pet the bunny’s head as she looked towards her computer scene. Another successful heist was pulled off.
(....)
A few days passed since the heist. News of the corrupted boss spreaded quickly. He was arrested and placed in jail while his workers had started to get new jobs. While police tried to figure out the true name of the person who revealed the truth, they didn’t have any luck. Something Chiaki was thankful for. After all, while she did a good thing, she still broke the law. And, sadly, Interpol wasn’t completely understanding.
The light pink haired girl was busy playing a videogame in her room, laying down in her bed with Clover next to her. The girl was trying to break her newest high score once more.
“Chiaki, there’s a letter for you!” A female voice called out.
Chiaki paused her game quickly and stood up.
“Coming!” Chiaki called back.
She walked out of the room, Clover following her. The letter was placed on the table. Chiaki looked confused as she went over and picked it up. Who would be sending a letter to her?
‘Only one way to find out.’ Chiaki thought.
She opened the letter and started to read it. Her eyes widen.
‘A-A school for thieves?!’ Chiaki thought.
But how did they find out about her? She was sure she made it so she couldn’t be located while hacking. With the letter in hand, Chiaki rushed back to her room. Clover could only watch in a mix of concern and confusion.
(....)
A few days passed since she got the letter. Chiaki wasn’t sure what to do. For all she knew, it could be some type of trap set up by Interpol to arrest her. But would they really go this far? After all, she imaged they would just show up at her house to do that.
“What should I do…?” Chiaki whispered to herself.
If it was true, it may help her out. She could learn new skills she never imaged and skills her father never taught her. But if she went, her future would basically be set in stone. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to be a hacker for her whole life.
Suddenly, her phone went off. Chiaki quickly picked it up and answered it.
“Hello?”
“Hi Chiaki~!”
Chiaki smiled at the familiar voice. It was just like her cousin to call her in a cheerful voice.
“Luchia, hi. It’s been awhile, huh?” Chiaki asked.
“Yeah, it has been. Sorry for being so sudden.”
“Oh no, don’t worry about it. Still, what did you want talk about?” Chiaki asked, “Is it about a boy?”
“Very funny cous. And no. It’s about this school. Leverage, I think it’s called. I got a letter from it and it said you were going there too!”
Chiaki’s eyes widen when she heard this. Luchia was a great swimmer...perfect for a frogman job. Plus, she went treasure hunting at times to find money to give away. Still, the fact the folks there knew they were related…
“Isn’t this great! We’re going to be at the same school again!”
Chiaki didn’t say anything at first. With how Luhia was, there was no way Chiaki could talk it out of it. And she doubt her parents would believe her. She knew she needed to go, if only to protect Luchia from anything to come.
“Yeah, it’s going to be great.”
