Personality: Near is a usually closed off person, used to being isolated, and only really seems to show emotion when around Meme, as she’s the person he’s closest to. He’s always doing something, whether it be reading, twirling his hair, playing with dice or dominoes, or typing on a computer, he’s always making some sort of small movement.

How he got a letter from the Once-ler's Gang: Near was diagnosed with a long term illness that his parents often isolated him out of concern, nothing that would kill him, but it would greatly hinder his physical capabilities. They became over protective and never let him out of the house unless he was going to the hospital for treatment. This gave him a lot of time alone to work with his computer and other electronics in his room, and he became good at hacking. One day, while at the hospital, he met Meme, and, after hearing her story, offered to help her get payback on a man that caused her parents to die and Meme to get her issues with memory. While she distracted the man, he used his hacking skills to drain the man’s finances and transferred them to his employee’s bank accounts. The plan was a success and they celebrated, until it was almost traced back to them and both were almost caught and arrested until they were told about the academy and they agreed to join.
