Personality: Melody is extremely sassy, rebellious, and a bit of a tomboy. On the contrary, due to her upbringing, she has a very low opinion of herself and is very prone to following directions. Her aunt had constantly belittled her for not being the perfect lady and her love of exploration. Melody is also a huge daydreamer.

How they got a letter from Once-ler or one of his members of his gang: Being half-mermaid, Melody had always been fond of the sea, but for some reason, she was never allowed to go in the water. Her dad’s sister had always prohibited her from going outside. Something about preserving her youth and dignity. Of course, being twelve and all, she frequently snuck out of the house and went swimming, finding shells and other treasures. One day, after her lessons, Aunt Vanessa introduced her to a priest in whom she was marrying. The priest had no interest in Vanessa however, but in Melody; wanting to make her his own little doll and nymphet. Melody was having none of that, so she ran away for real this time. While she was swimming, she encountered a sea witch who dragged her into a cave and kept her as her personal pet human, subjecting her to bits of playtime and torment. Witch Morgana didn’t know of her mermaid heritage, so they weren’t expecting her to swim away. A fight ensued until a red-haired woman swam by and broke it up, fighting for Melody. Morgana was defeated and vowed revenge against the two mermaids. Then Ariel, commending Melody’s maneuvering through the water, invited her to Leverage. She accepted.
