A young seventeen year old named Jerrica, as known as Jem, was strolling around the city to explore the shopping district since she was in the mood to buy some new clothing. "What to get." She thought to herself as she was passing many shops, that did have interesting clothing. As she was strolling, she did find a dress that she wanted, and she smirked as Jem saw her item. By the touch of her earring, she was able to transform as someone who came out of a fashion magazine. She walked into the store, and smiled at the owner. "Why, hello, miss." The clerk greeted with a smile. Jen winked and saw the dress, that was ruffled with a pink-orange color. She thought it was really pretty, and although it was expensive, she wanted it, and she smirked again, as she got an idea on how to get it, without paying. She walked to the clerk again and pressed another part of her earring which contained soothing music to make the clerk fall asleep.
"Have a nice day." She whispered to the clerk and pressed her earring to change her outfit into her normal self. She then continued to walk in the city, and saw that some woman was trying to buy another dress, but she unfortunately didn't have any money. "Miss, you trying to buy something?" Jem asked, with a small grin, as she saw the elderly lady's look of sadness. "Yes, dearie, I am. I want to look young and beautiful, like you dearie. But, I cannot afford something like that. As you see, my wedding anniversary is coming up, and I want to look young for my husband, as I was twenty years go when we first got married, but the clothes I have do not seem to do it, anymore." Jem, seeing the lady cry looked at the dress she wanted and through of an idea on how to go into the store and "buy it". "You stay out here, miss.." "Annie, call me, Annie dear." The elderly woman said, with a tearful grin. "Jerrica, but, call me Jem." The pink haired young woman responded and winked at her.
She walked into the store and identified the dress Annie wanted, and saw that the place were full of workers. "Dang it, how to go past the guards?" She thought, as she tapped her chin. She got an idea and pressed a button on her earring to transform into one of the workers and she was going toward the dress, until a customer approached her. "Excuse me, but could you tell me on where the price check is?" The lady asked, and showed her the clothes. Jem breathed in and out to look kind to the customer. "It's down by the purses. The price checker should be on your right." She responded while pointing in her direction. "Thank you, miss." As the customer left, Jem saw the dress that Annie wanted, and with no one looking, she took it off the ha her and walked toward the exit, and pressed the button on her earring on where the guard near the door fell asleep. She quickly transformed into her usual outfit and gave the dress to Annie. "You're a natural, Jem. How were you able to get the dress, even though, it was expensive?"
As Jem heard the question, she tapped her chin, thinking of what to say, as she was trying to not give out a secret that she was a mystic thief. So, she has to make a choice between keeping the secret of telling the lady that she's an underground thief, or lie to her, mentioning that she works for a fashion company, as a clothes agent. "Well, I.. am a worker for a fashion company called "Starlight Productions." "So, people, tend to know me." She said, and gave Annie a necklace. Annie, being surprised, looked at her with a small smile, and patted her back. "My, it seems like you got a lot of clothes to get for your, customers. Do I owe you any money?" Annie asked, with a sweet smile. Jem looked at her, and nodded and kissed her cheek. "Nope, you don't owe me anything, sweetheart. Now, go and look beautiful for your husband." Jem said, and left her, with a sweet wave. Jen walked off and pressed her earring to make her outfit look high class.
While walking with the dress that she "bought", in her hand, she saw that there was a piece of jewelry that she wanted to match the dress. She smirked as she kept the outfit on, and liked around to see if there was any way she could go inside and "buy" the necklace without anyone looking. So, she went into the store, and pressed her earring again to make it look like, yet again, another store clerk. She looked up at the man and smiled, with an eyebrow being raised. "How may, I.. oh, hello, Jerrica, didn't see you come into the place today. Thought you took the day off?" The guy asked, raising an eyebrow. Jem looked at the man and winked. "Well, I guess I decided to come into work. That's all." She commented back, and winked at him.
She saw that the guy was looking at her and she had to go past him to grab the necklace she wanted. So, she starred into his eyes, and pressed the hypnosis button on her earring and made the guy fall asleep. She put the guy into the backroom and while he was sleeping, she was looking for a blanket to cover him up with. "Where to find one.." and thought to herself as she was looking for one and although the jewelry place was small, she knew that there had to be one in the place. A couple of seconds later, she found a pink blanket and puts it on his back. "There we go, sweet dreams." She does into his ear and went to the window and took out a pin from her hair to open up the lock. "Bingo." She thought to herself, and she quickly grabbed the necklace and put it on. When walking out of the building, she saw that there were two other ladies, who looked hungry and were holding up signs, asking for food. So, she walked up up to them, and looked down their level, as though they could see eye to eye. "I see that you two, are quite hungry. Do not worry, I'll grab you and two something." She said, giving them a wink. So, she walked into a market and quickly pressed the transformation button onto her earring and turned into the first person, grabbing her groceries and getting out of the place. In the basket, if contained fruit and bread. The lady came out, and quickly turned back into her original self and gave the two ladies the basket and food. "There you go." She said, and waved at them. "How did she, grab the food like that so quickly?" One lady asked, with an eyebrow being raised. "Doesn't matter. Let's eat this before someone finds us." The other commented, and the two of them began to eat.
As Jem walking to her apartment, something tapped on her shoulder. She turned around and looked up at some, turtle creature thing looked down at her. My, this was strange, a turtle finding her like this? Jem raised an eyebrow and looked on how big the turtle was. "Wow, never saw a creature like you before. Is this Halloween already?" She asked in suspicion. The turtle looked down at her and nodded. "I am actually a turtle, my dear. I see that your magic has potential. You are a mystic, are you not?" Jem's eyes widened in shock, not knowing on what to answer. "I..." She began to stutter as she looked at the turtle. The creature did look pretty wide and she had to tell him the truth one way or another. "I, sort of am.." "Don't speak, my child. My, from what I seen from afar, you do have earrings that contain magic. Please, tell me more about them." Jem did look up at the turtle and sighed and decided to tell the creature her story. "Although she was nervous, she felt like the turtle was some sort of teacher, or some creature who worked for some magic related underground lair that she never heard of. "Alright, tell you about my earrings. They're not ordinary earrings, as you said. My earrings have powers. They do have transformation which they make me match the outfit of the person, like for example, a clerk's outfit and then, I have this other power which do put people to sleep, and then, I go for the steal, nothing too complex really." She explained briefly. The turtle nodded with a fatherly like grin. "I see, what do you do, after you steal? I assume you use the items to donate to charity?" Jem nodded at the guy's question. "Yes, I donated food from the store, which I used my power with, by the way to donate to two, homeless people, and then, I had to steal this dress to some elderly lady who could not afford it." She responded, with a look of honesty.
The turtle looked at her and nodded, as he was looking at the earrings closely. "So, I see that your earrings are very beautiful and from what I see, I, I believe you. They are quite lovely. How do they get their powers? I am quite interested to hear it." As Jem heard the compliment, she nodded; she then heard him ask about the earrings and she raised an eyebrow. "If he wants to hear about them, might as well talk about it." She thought to herself, with a smile, and nodded at the turtle. "Well, these earrings. I found on a trip with my older sister. I was at museum once and I found these earrings on sale at the gift shop. The clerk of the store told me about the earrings being a legend of some sort. The earrings do have powers and I wanted to know on how the powers on the earrings came about. The clerk told me that the earrings do contain magic, and although they do not know about on where the magic came from, and they were still doing research on them, I was quite interested in the piece of jewelry." Jem explained, hoping that the turtle would understand her point. The turtle looked at the young girl as he listened to her, and nodded. "I see, very nice to hear about them." He said, with a grin and touched them slowly. "They do contain magic. Did you who didn't know about myself, my name is Oogway. I am a teacher at a school called "Leverage" where mystics and similar people like you can learn to not only upgrade your magic skills, but, also, work together with people to learn about your style, and of course, stealing with a generous purpose to it." As Jem heard that, and heard the turtle in detail that he was a teacher, and smiled at the creature, not realizing that she forgot to introduce herself as well. "Oh, I'm Jerrica, but, you can call me Jem." She introduced herself with a wink. Oogwa my looked at the young girl, with a grin and bowed its head. "I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Jerrica." Oogway said, with a charming smile. She grinned at the turtle and thought that having him as a mentor would teach her on how to improve her power, hopefully.
"Well,it's getting late. I must be heading off to the academy. I'll go tell my boss about you, my dear, Jerrica. You seem to have the potential, and with your earrings that you told me about, I'm sure that my boss will like you for sure, my dear." She felt his paw patting her back and she smiled at him. "Thank you, Oogway. I'll be sure to do my best in the academy, if I get in." She said, and Oogway looked at her with a look of confidence. "You'll do great, my dear Jerrica. I know you will." She looked up at him with a soft smile and winked at her. The teacher and Jem separated and thought that at first, hanging around a turtle was weird, but, after finding out a little more about him, she felt comfortable about him being a mentor and a teacher. As she got home, she waved to her sister, Stella. "Hey, Jem. Where have you been? And love the dress." She said, with a small smile. Jem waved to tell her and showed her the dress. "Thanks. I also went out, shopping, that's all." Jem replied, with a grin. She replied, with a grin. She didn't want to admit that she stole the dress, and the necklace. So, she ran upstairs and quickly put it away, so, her sister won't see it, and yet, she didn't take off the price tag, so, she cut it.
The next day, Jem and her sister, were eating their breakfast, until the doorbell rang. "I'll get it, sis!" Stella called out, and opened the door. It was the mailman. Stella got the letter and it was addressed to "Jerrica." "Sis, it's for you!" She called out and gave the letter to Jem. As Jem opened the letter, it addressed it was an acceptance letter to "Leverage." Stella gazed at it as well and raised an eyebrow. "What is Leverage?" Stella asked, with a look of curiosity. Jem, hearing the question, looked at her, with swear coming upon her face. She didn't want to tell Stella, the sister who rises her since their parents died, the truth that she was a mystic thief, and using the earrings to steal items to donate to charity. So. She had to make up a lie, to her, saying that it was a college letter. "It's a letter, for an educational purposes. It's in another state, Stella. Do not worry, we'll keep in contact." She said, and started to pack up for the academy. Stella looked at what she was doing and gave her a small hug. "I'll miss you, and I wish you luck, Jerrica." Stella said, with bits of tears coming from her eyes. Jem hugged her and kissed her cheek. "Don't worry, I'll be alright." Jem said, with a small smile and hugged her. As Jerrica was all done packing, she walked out of the house, and afterwards, she pressed the button and her outfit transformed into jeans and a t-shirt, not making herself look like a thief at all. As she reached the school, she looked at it, and grinned, hoping she would get some wisdom wordings from that turtle and met with. "Alright, Leverage, make me look good." She thought to herself as she opened the door to the academy, hoping that the place would make her a "good thief" and not get resulted in discrimination in public.
"Have a nice day." She whispered to the clerk and pressed her earring to change her outfit into her normal self.
